Ganesh Chaturthi is a major Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesh. It involves installing clay images of Ganesh in public pandals (temporary shrines) or at homes, followed by ten days of music, dance, prayers, and, eventually, the immersion of the idols in a body of water.
